The Work Dress

I just finished taking my last final & I’m baffled as to what I should do next. My mind is just trying to grasp the idea, that I may have just finished my community college career which I began a looooong time ago.  Although I can’t declare a victory until I see that transcript. In the meantime, I guess I’ll take sometime & unwind.

I love this versatile black and white stripped dress that I purchased from Gap a few weeks ago. The material is heavier than the typical jersey dress which I like for work. I also like how the stripes slightly shift at the waist for a complimentary hour glass figure. This is my ideal work outfit; comfortable & chic. Gap is definitely one my favorite stores to shop for work clothes. Do you have any go to stores for work attire? I’d love to check them out.

Stylish Saturday:Birkenstock-Inspired

Stylish Saturdays: Birkenstock Inspired

Hey guys! Welcome to the first post of a weekly series called Stylish Saturdays. Where I’ll be discussing current and past trends, inspiration, wish list stuff and anything else fashion related. Sometimes when I do an outfit post I don't have much time to write or discuss my thoughts ,I thought this would be a perfect way to dojust that.I want to spark a conversation with you guys and see what you guys think is interesting, so feel free to share any thoughts or ideas!

Are the Birkenstocks making a comeback? I think so. When I was in LA for LuckyFabb Eva Chen actually discussed the trend of the frumpy sandals and she made a great point , what’s better than being chic and comfortable at the same time? If you follow my blog you know I am ALL about comfort, I briefly mentioned that on a previous post. At a first glance the sandals weren't really appealing to my eyes but the more I think about them and see them I have to admit they’re beginning to dawn on me. I think I may find a cool affordable pair of inspired sandals and give them a try. I feel like a traitor typing that but I guess that means I have an open mind right? You know what they say, “I’ll try anything once, twice if I like it.”

What is your take on the Birkenstock- inspired trend?

P.s I wanted my picks to be affordable, I try to save when it comes to items that are trendy.

Beginning from top left: 1. Topshop $65// 2. H&M $24.95 // 3. River Island $56
Bottom Row 4. Asos $47.04 // 5. H&M $34.95 // 6. Topshop $45

Fringe Action

This morning my alarm went off & I somehow managed to convince myself it was Saturday & I must have accidentally set my alarm , that quick feeling of joy was almost instantly diminished when I realized it was only Thursday. My mind has been all over the place lately, I feel like I’m doing the juggling act and I’m not so good at it.
On a positive note I have my final on Tuesday which means I will be free from all educational duties for the summer, I’m really looking forward to that. I mentioned previously that I was going to Europe this summer & planning has been on the back burner due to school so I’m finally ready to focus more time on this trip, I’ll share more details soon. Anyone taking a summer vacation?

P.s I'm working on a blog series called Stylish Saturdays where I'll be discussing trends, ideas, & inspiration. First post will be tomorrow, so make sure you come by and check it out!

LuckyFabb Day:2

Here’s another outfit from LuckyFabb conference, It’s a little more laid back from the outfit I wore day 1. Since second day was more of a mingling event with an absolutely delicious brunch.  I decided to wear something casual (but chic) so I’d be able to walk around and meet more bloggers comfortably. The panama hat was perfect since the brunch was outdoors and its always sunny in SoCal, the ripped boyfriend jeans were balanced with a more sleek wraparound blouse on top. Since the look was pretty minimal I just added a red lip for some color and the snakeskin shoes for a little mix of texture.

My little sister took the pictures at the Caltech campus in Pasadena, it was gorgeous. You can check her out on twitter or Instagram .

Weekend Recap

Why are Mondays so terrible? I want to stay in bed for at least an additional 2 hours on Mondays so I can mentally and physically prep for the work week, wishful thinking. The weekend was too short, as always but it was quite eventful and l managed to stay so busy that I had no time for house chores… I may be on to something; I’ll have to try that again next weekend. Anyway here is a recap of the weekend and some of the stories that caught my short- lived attention.

   1. As you must already know Coachella kicked off its first weekend festivities, I’m really bummed that I didn't get to go and the excessive pictures online don’t help. Who am I kidding? If I was there I’d be posting countless pictures. WhoWhatWear has a pretty cool list of The Best Dressed.

2. Saturday I attended my newest cousins baptism, I wore this pretty scalloped shift dress that I love, also pulled out my summer shoes from storage!

3. I gave myself a blow out using one of the many products that was in my LuckyFabb swag bag, I liked the voluminous hair it helped me achieve. I've never tried the Fat Hair products before but I like this one & the price is reasonable, $8 at ULTA. P.s don't mind over concealed eyes:)
4. Saturday while everyone was live tweeting about a boxing match I came across a tweet that announced the #AlexanderWangxHM collaboration, you guys know I love a good collab! So I’m so excited to see what designs are produced for this collection

5. Sunday morning I ran to Target for a new toothbrush but found myself in the accessories department lusting over these gorgeous orange bags, I liked both but ended up with the cross body one because I thought I’d be fun for Europe this summer. Which is your favorite?

6. What better way to wrap up the weekend than an award show? The MTV Movie awards were on in the background while I was organizing my clothes for the week. I did catch how gorgeous Lupita Nyong'o looked in that Chanel number, she is so beautiful, I’m obsessed with her.
 Also, Zac Efron…yeah.

H&M Conscious Collection Favorite looks

Have you checked out the new H&M Conscious Collection? The new collection was released today and I already love almost everything! Hate when I want to  buy everything but can't... must control myself ( not my best attribute ) especially difficult when it's for a good cause right?

How often do you look at your clothing label? Do you know where your clothing is made? I know I very rarely do but it's something I need to do more. of Buying clothing that comes from sweat shops, or that is made from scarce resources can't be good in the long run for our planet of for humanity.I know it's one of those "out of sight out of mind" situations because were not personally affected but it's important to take small steps toward buying products that are eco-friendly. If you want to know more about this check out the book Overdressed:The Shockingly High Cost of Fashion

H&M has made it their mission to try and produce more sustainable clothing at a reasonable price. Now, how do you say no to that? Here are a few looks I put together using some of my favorite items from the collection.

Decorate your suitcase with Stylish tissues from Kleenex

Hey Guys! I'm sharing with you guys how I traveled to L.A this weekend using the new stylish Kleenex slim packs. I love how small and discreet they are but still are very useful, especially when traveling. They really came in handy when I got a smear of mascara on my on my cheek and didn't want to ruin my foundation. They also work so well for helping with any lipstick smears that occur while you're on the go.

Check out the Kleenex Style Studio!

The Slim Packs are so cute & just the right amount
How cute are these new fashionable designs?
The zig-zag design is my favorite

Kleenex partnered with Isaac Mizrahi to create 4 designs which are intended to evoke confidence and inspiration to help you express your personal style and step out of your comfort zone when it comes to incorporating the latest trends. Exclusively on the Kleenex style finder you can watch videos featuring Isaac Mizrahi where he provides his latest style advice and shares his own experience as a design leader for more than two decades.

This post is sponsored by Kleenex, but my love for their Style Studio is all my own!

LuckyFabb Day 1

I’m back from LuckyFabb and I’m still having dreams about it. Yes, luckyfabb was that much fun. I started this blog back in 2011 and this was my first “blogging” outing, don’t ask me why because I do not have a good answer.

I was really nervous about going, the night before I literally could not sleep and when I finally heard that jingle tone from my alarm, I almost waned to just turn it off and pretend that I wasn't going. The fear of the unknown is terrible, and its very weird for me because I've never been a fearful person but I’m starting to realize that older I get the more apprehensive I become, especially when it comes to stepping out of my comfort zone. So this experience really helped me over come that fear. I meet a lot of bloggers who were really kind to me and I become conscious of the fact that it is  important to help build other people up while helping yourself grow too, It was a really good feeling.

Overall, it was a great experience and I truly felt inspired being surrounded with people with whom I share a common passion with and In fact I encourage any of you bloggers to attend LuckyFabb if you want to step outside of your comfort zone and possibly get a new perspective on blogging.

Here are a few snaps! Check out my Instagram account for more snaps!
