Red

It finally started raining here in Cali, which means I’ll be indoors all weekend.  I’m hoping to study for a midterm and finish watching Breaking Bad, has anyone watched that show? I’m hooked! I only allow myself to watch one episode while I use a cardio machine at the gym. So guess what? I've worked out every day this week.

What are your plans for the weekend?

Feeling Blue

Make room for  Navy, it maybe the color to give your wardrobe a contemporary feel. The case for black has already been made and clearly its the"no fail" hue but I think Navy is the black of summer and spring. Its versatility makes it pair well with almost any color. For a spring palette pair it with tones of blush and maybe a softer blue (as seen below) for a classic feminine feel. Pair it with anything cheetah or yellow during summer for a bold  look. So,next time you're going to reach for that LBD, think twice and lighten things up with a little blue.
Here are a few items for inspiration:

Trend Talk: Bomber Jackets

Bomber Jackets

I love a good bomber jacket; I purchased a floral print one from H&M last year on the clearance rack for like $10. I didn’t realize what a precious gem I had just acquired until it quickly became my go -to garment when I wanted a look that was unique, it literally goes with anything. Aside from its versatility i love how it is lightweight and can used as a perfect transition piece, especially in a neutral color. A couple different ways of wearing it include pairing it with:
1.       Boyfriend jeans and a baseball cap for a  sporty chic look
2.       A flared skirt for a more feminine feel
3.       Skinny jeans or track pants for a quick go-to look
4.       Pencil skirt for a modern glam feel

Do you know how the bomber jacket got its start? Well originally the jackets were made to keep pilots warm in their cockpits during WW1. According to WikipediaThe G-1,was a jacket designed by the U.S. Navy  lasted until 1978, when U.S. Congress cancelled it due to its tremendous popular appeal, which was overwhelming the Navy’s supply system. Their popularity evolved into symbols of honor, adventure, and style. Hollywood films like Top Gun boosted sales of the G-1 tremendously, making bomber jackets collector and fashion items”. Fun Fact for ya.

Nike & Leather

Life is so brutal after a three day weekend but I find solace in knowing that I had a great weekend and this is now a short work week.
On Sunday we took my little guy to The Chabot Space & Science Center in Oakland. I had to be dressed in something that would get me through crawling in plastic tunnels, faux leather pants & Nikes seemed appropriate
P.S
How cute is my little guy in his leather jacket?

Trend Talk: Track Pants

For me style has to be comfortable and easy to wear. When I find something I like and feels  good I cling to it, which leads me to Trend Talk: Track Pants

My girlfriend asked me if I thought the “Track Pants look” was going to fade , well personally I love track pants because they’re so comfortable and I like that they can be dressed up with a something a simple as a blazer and stilettos. In my case they will never go out of style because it’s a look that I love and feel comfortable wearing.  However, when buying track pants that you may think are trendy consider the following:

 1. Fit: Make sure that they are flattering; I tried on a couple of pairs that made my butt look saggy, try something that has a drawstring waist.

      2. Color: Choose something neutral or a bold shade can’t go wrong with either. If your iffy stays away from prints chances are you will wear a solid pair more.

3.Fabric: Tweed is always a classic way to go as well as a silky pair. I choose cotton because I wanted a laid back look and this pair worked for that.

     4. Comfort: Make sure that you feel good & that you can function, I think when it comes to fashion those are my two main rules for putting a look together or trying something new.
Hope these tips help!

The Day It Almost Rained In California

I'm really glad I didn't buy rain boots this season, I would have been REALLY disappointed. When I woke up on Thursday morning and saw that it had rained I was so happy, I gathered my raincoat and umbrella. Only to my disappointment , it didn't rain or sprinkle again.

Just realized this entire outfit is almost from Gap. I always seem to find classic, essential, & comfortable garments there. Not to mention they're always having great sales. I have my eye on a bomber jacket that I mentioned in my previous post, waiting for it to go on sale.

By the way, ever since my hair got long enough to be semi-wrapped up, I haven't stopped wearing it like that...oops.
